SEDA 03:19

about

Have you ever heard an album and you just think to yourself, “This needed to be put out there?” Seda’s debut album “The Four Letter Word” is an album that will be remembered for just something you need. One of the things that are expressed throughout this album is the passion and love for God. Like Theory Hazit says, “I am not a Christ-centered MC, Christ is in the center of me”, which is something that I love to see, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34), and when Christ is in the center, this is what comes out.

When I first got the album, I didn’t pay too much attention to the title because I didn’t really get what it was there for. Then I would look at the title of the tracks as I played them on the Ipod and then I realized…every track is titled with a four letter word! Combined with the name “Seda” makes for something very special. What I found very refreshing is that the titles didn’t seem so forced to make things fit, and I’m not sure if Seda had the tracks first and then wrote the titles or did it vice versa, but it will make this album a sure classic.

Another thing I would like to point out is the distinct New York flavor that is in Seda’s flow and even in the choices of beats. In the recent round of artists to come forth in rap period, the South has been the forerunner, but I think New York is ready to make resurgence with the likes of Seda and many others, including Richie Righteous, J.A.Z., and others.

I found out that the majority of this album was produced by JahRock’n Productions, which is an interesting thing. Usually I am not one that is receptive to the use of one producer on the majority of the project, but by the time you are done with this album I feel that you will wonder what else this producer has put his hands on, because this was my first time hearing of him, but as you know in life you can probably be unfamiliar with someone who has been around for awhile.

The Lord has really laid something introspective for Seda to paint to the listener and the passion he has guides the power of the words and themes of tracks that are put forth.

The Four Letter Word is a showcase of not only New York talent rising again, but it showcases an artist who is passionate and in love with the God that he speaks about, and the Christ that resides in the center comes forth, and will cause many to be inspired and others to be introspective about what makes God so important, and delighted in by those who seek Him. As an independent artist, he has no labels backing him, which I think testifies to the work of God in the life of this artist and I hope that many will take note that one, Hip Hop in New York is alive in Christ and isn’t going away, and two, when God is the center in your life and your heart, your mouth will speak of the abundance that resides in it.
